YTB Madness

In the past month, four people have contacted me or a family member to pitch YTB–”Your Travel Business Inc”. What is YTB? If you want the two words or less answer: YTB is a pyramid scheme. If you’ve never heard of YTB and have never considered bu ... Continue reading »

  • Very interesting however I did notice one error, you state that when someone buys a ticket on Travelocity that the airline pays Travelocity (or the travel agency) a commission. That used to be the case however about 1995 the airlines started cutting commission and by 2004 no domestic carrier pays a point of sale commission to travel agencies. That would mean that the potential earnings are even lower!
  • Very interestingly you have written this article. My friend will love to read this.
He always search for these kind of topics.
  • a very nice explanation on what MLM is and why it should be avoided. People in many ways are starting these MLM schemes. Hope by reading this type of articles make them aware.
  • Bhutan tour package - Yeoong is a established tourism company registered with the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Royal Government of Bhutan. Find deals of trekking, tours, birdwatching and many more with bhutantourpackage.com.
  • I really don't agree with spending money ONLINE in order to gain money, and specially when it is one pyramid schemes, its really a waste of time and money, if your one of the starters of the pyramid then maybe you will earn money but now I bet with a lot of people informed about this schemes it will be soo hard to convince someone to join you on the pyramid, there's tons of ways to gain money online without spending our precious $500 bucks.. I'd rather play the lottery like what you said..
  • Thanks for bringing this up, articles like these increase our awareness, but in my belief if its too good to be true... then it's far from coming true.
  • It's interesting to see how quickly the furor over YTB has grown. The travel industry is solid, but you have to wonder about it.
  • I don't like MLM.
  • thanks a lot for your suggestion, it does really helped me a lot.
  • Seems to me like MLM doesn't even work and it's not worth the risk involved.
  • there are many ways to gain money online without spending even a single dime,, many people thiks that you should spend a big amount of money in order to have multiple source of income
  • there are lots of alternative way to advertise online without spending money you should just know the tactics and strategies in order for you to do it
  • The best feature of YTB is that you can claim the money you spend on the initiation and monthly fees as a business expense. So, if you buy in at worse you’ll lose $500+monthly fees - your tax savings. In that regard, buying into YTB is less risky, especially if you find 6 others who can also lose $500 without blinking so that you thrift savings plan both eliminate the monthly fees and increase your odds of realizing profits. The YTB sales reps will also tell you that you can write off your travel expenses too, but I highly doubt that. I don’t think the IRS will consider your “travel business” very highly if all you did was buy a website.

  • It flashes part of the rep's website for maybe a second or two and I didn't see YTB on that website the first go around. I just re-watched it and paused it at the time mark that you have mentioned, (because the website is only shown so quickly and quality of the video is rather poor) and I had to do that twice to see the fuzzy YTB letters up at the very top left corner of the page and it's just letters and no real logo (unless THAT is their logo). I am not by the way, familiar with their website, have never had a reason to view it and have never seen it til now actually.

  • Great post, sound pieces of advice. In this hard times, we can't just invest our time, efforts and money blindly. Pyramid schemes such as these one should be clearly avoided, and the people behind them should pay for their deceptive, vile acts.
